iOS 13/14で使えるすべてのiPhoneの表示領域とテキストサイズを精密に比較してみました。実画面サイズは『Appleデバイス用アクセサリのデザインガイドライン』を参考にしています。
なお、今回拡大表示は計測していません。

​実寸比率の比較画像

注目は12/12 Proと11/XR、12 miniと11 Pro/XS/XとSE2/8/7/6sの大きさと表示領域です。後で説明します。

図面にある100分の1mmまで正確に再現するためにスクリーンショットを実画面サイズmm数×100ピクセルに拡大して比較しました（例えば画面幅71.13mmの12 Pro Maxは幅1284ピクセルのスクリーンショットを幅7113ピクセルに拡大）。掲載した画像は縮小してあります。

テキストサイズ

文字の大きさを比較するために、各画面サイズの実寸比率の比較画像を半透明にして同じ単語を重ねました。
iPhoneのテキストサイズには大きなグループと小さなグループと一つの例外があります。それぞれのグループ同士の文字は同じ大きさになっています。

大きなグループ

• 12 Pro Max
• 12/12 Pro
• 11 Pro Max/XS Max
• 11 Pro/XS/X
• 8 Plus/7 Plus/6s Plus

Pro系とPlus系はすべてテキストが大きなグループです。iPhone 12もこちらに属します。

小さなグループ

• 12 mini
• 11/XR
• SE2/8/7/6s

12以外の無印系iPhoneは小さなグループです。
ただし、実は12miniだけ更に1(±0.5?)%ほど小さいようです。

テキストの高さが微妙に違います。ここまで拡大してこのくらいの差しかありませんけど。ビューポート幅はSE2と同じなのにminiの画面幅は0.83mm狭いということと辻褄は合います。

例外の中間サイズ

• SE2/8/7/6s

なぜか一番小さな4インチだけが両グループの中間くらいの大きさでした。テキストは大小どちらにも合っていません。

これらはデフォルトのテキストサイズです。設定アプリの「画面表示と明るさ ＞ テキストサイズを変更」と「アクセシビリティ ＞ 画面表示とテキストサイズ ＞ さらに大きな文字」でテキストサイズを変更することも可能です。

iPhoneとiPhoneの比較

画面サイズが多くてややこしいので、いくつか気になる視点でだけまとめました。すべての数値については末尾の「スクリーンの仕様一覧」をご確認ください。

6.1インチ画面について
まずは6.1インチ画面（12/12 Pro/11/XR）にフォーカスしましょう。現時点で歴代6.1インチiPhone全部が販売されています。

• 11とXRは画面に関しては完全に同じです。
• 12と12 Proもほぼ同じです（条件によっては12 Proの方が最大輝度が高くなっています）。
• 12/12 Proは11/XRよりもテキストが大きく、その代わり表示領域が狭くなります。
• 11/XRの表示領域は11 Pro Max/XS Maxと同じです。6.5インチ画面をそのまま6.1インチサイズまで縮小したのが11/XR、テキストサイズを変えずに表示領域を6.1インチまで狭くしたのが12/12 Proです。
• 12/12 Proはより解像度が高く、豊かな表現力を持つ有機ELディスプレイです。

Proシリーズについて
Proシリーズ同士ならすべてのモデルでテキストサイズは同じです。この点では12も同様です。画面サイズに比例して表示領域が変わります。

小さなiPhoneについて
最後にiPhone SE2と12 miniの画面を見てみましょう。

• テキストサイズはほぼ同じ。1行の文字数も同じです。
• ホーム画面のアイコンサイズは12 miniの方が僅かに小さいです。

• 実寸幅はSE2よりも12 miniの方が僅かに狭くなっていますが、SE2の画面をそのまま縦に伸ばしたものと思っていいでしょう。
• 12 miniの表示領域は11 Pro/XS/Xと同じです。なんとスクリーンショットの解像度も5.8インチのiPhoneと同じです。小さいからって、お絵描きアプリなどの絵を他の端末に渡しても見劣りしないように？（追記：フラッグシップ級の@3x解像度にするための帳尻合わせ？）
• SE2と比べると12 miniはかなり解像度の高い有機ELディスプレイで、画像や壁紙の表現力では差を感じます。

ビューポートは表示領域を表す数値です。これが同じなら画面サイズに関係なくアプリやウェブサイトの同じ範囲を表示します。@2xや@3xなどはRetinaディスプレイの仕様を表しています。スクリーンでは2倍3倍の解像度で表示されます。
ビューポートは『iPhone 12で、ビューポートのサイズの種類が増えすぎ！デバイスの複雑さがUIの設計にどのように影響するのか｜coliss』を参考にしました。

I made an accurate comparison of the display area and a text size of all iPhones that supports iOS 13/14. The actual screen size is based on Accessory Design Guidelines for Apple Devices.
DISPLAY ZOOM was not measured at this time.

​Actual Size Ratio Comparison Images

The focus is on the size and display area of the 12/12 Pro and 11/XR, 12 mini and 11 Pro/XS/X and SE2/8/7/6s. I'll explain later.

In order to accurately reproduce the screenshot down to 1/100th of a millimeter as shown in the drawing, the screenshot was scaled up to the actual screen size of mm x 100 pixels in comparison (e.g., the 12 Pro Max with a screen width of 71.13mm has a screenshot of 1284 pixels wide and is scaled up to 7113 pixels wide). The images posted on the site have been reduced in size.

​Text Size

To compare the size of the text, I made the actual size ratio comparison images for each screen size translucent and overlaid the same words on top of each other.
There are large and small groups of text sizes on the iPhone, and one exception: the text size of each group is exactly the same. The text in each group is the same size as the other.

Large Group

• 12 Pro Max
• 12/12 Pro
• 11 Pro Max/XS Max
• 11 Pro/XS/X
• 8 Plus/7 Plus/6s Plus

The Pro and Plus all have a large group of texts; the iPhone 12 also belongs here.

Small Group

• 12 mini
• 11/XR
• SE2/8/7/6s

All normal iPhones, except the 12 are in a small group. However, only the 12mini seems to be even smaller by 1 (±0.5?) %, actually.

The height of the text is slightly different.​ This is barely the only difference between the two, though, after such an expansion. It fits with the fact that the screen width of the mini is 0.83mm narrower than that of the SE2, although the viewport width is the same.

Intermediate Size of Exceptions

• SE2/8/7/6s

Why? Only the smallest 4 inch is about halfway between the two groups. The text doesn't fit either the small or the large.

These are the default text sizes. You can change the text size in the Settings app by going to "Display & Brightness ＞ Text Size" and "Accessibility ＞ Display & Text Size ＞ Larger Text".

​Comparing iPhone and iPhone

There are many screen sizes that complicate things, so I've summarized them only from a few perspectives that I'm interested in. Please see the Screen Specifications List at the end for all the numbers.

About the 6.1 inch screen
Let's focus on the 6.1 inch screen (12/12 Pro/11/XR) first. At the moment, all 6.1 inch iPhones of all time have been sold.

• The 11 and XR is exactly the same as far as screens go.
• The 12 and 12 Pro are nearly identical (the 12 Pro has a higher maximum brightness in some conditions).
• The 12/12 Pro has larger text than the 11/XR, and in return the display area is smaller.
• The 11/XR's display area is the same as the 11 Pro Max/XS Max: the 11/XR shrinks the 6.5 inch screen down to a 6.1 inch size, while the 12/12 Pro narrows the display area to 6.1 inches without changing the text size.
• The 12/12 Pro is a higher resolution, richer, more expressive OLED display.

About the Pro Series
All models in the Pro series have the same text size between them. The same is true for the 12 models in this respect. The display area changes in proportion to the screen size.

About the little iPhone
Finally, let's take a look at the screens of the iPhone SE2 and 12 mini.

• The text size is almost the same, and the number of characters per line is also the same.
• The icon size on the Home Screen is slightly smaller in the 12 mini.

• The actual width of the 12 mini is slightly narrower than the SE2, but you can think of it as a vertical extension of the SE2's screen.
• The display area of the 12 mini is the same as the 11 Pro/XS/X. What's more, the screenshot resolution is the same as a 5.8 inch iPhone. Just because it's small doesn't mean you can hand your drawing app or other drawing to another device and not look bad? (PS: Adjusted for flagship level @3x resolution?)
• Compared to the SE2, the 12 mini has a much higher resolution OLED display, which makes a difference in terms of image and wallpaper presentation.

The viewport is a number representing the display area. If it's the same, it shows the same area of the app or website regardless of the screen size. A number like @2x or @3x refers to the Retina display specifications. The screen will display at twice or three times the resolution.
I used iPhone 12 vs Designers as a reference for the viewport.

アイコンとウィジェットがiPhoneの傾きで動くようになりました。これは今日の表示またはAppライブラリに行ってホームに戻ると止まります。
Icons and widgets now move on the iPhone's tilt. This stops when you go to Today View or the App Library and then back to the Home. 

iOS 14.1で少し変わったホームボタンiPhoneロック画面のカメラアイコンの位置が戻りました。
The position of the camera icon on the Home button iPhone Lock Screen, which has changed slightly in iOS 14.1, has been restored.

しかし当サイトの表記は特に対応しません。iOS 13.3でまた変わるかもしれません。体制が変わらない限り安定するはずはないと考えています。
However, this site's notation is not specifically supported; that may change again with iOS 13.3. I don't think it should be stable unless the system changes.

ページコントロール（ドックの上のドット）の位置が少し下がりました。
The Page Control (the dot above the dock) has been moved down a bit.

4.7インチiPhone（SE 2nd/8/7/6s）のロック画面の時刻表示が小さくなりました。
The time display on the Lock Screen of the 4.7-inch iPhone (SE 2nd/8th/7/6s) has been reduced.

ホームボタンiPhoneロック画面のカメラアイコンの位置が少し変わりました。
The position of the camera icon on the Home button iPhone Lock Screen has changed slightly.

Plus iPhoneホーム画面のアイコンラベルの位置が変わっている可能性がありますが、これは確認できていません。
It is possible that the position of the icon labels on the Plus iPhone Home Screen may have changed, but I haven't been able to confirm this yet.

これらはiOS 14.2ベータまたはiOS 14.0から14.2ベータまで一貫して不安定な部分です。おそらく何らかの問題があり、今後不安定さが増すことはあっても減ることはないでしょう。土台から変わらない限りは。
These are the parts of iOS 14.2 beta or iOS 14.0 to 14.2 beta that are consistently unstable. There's probably some problem, and the instability will probably increase, but not decrease, in the future. Unless they change from their foundation.

​編集の基本操作

ホーム画面のアプリアイコン、ドック、ページコントロール（ドックの上の点）以外の、空いている部分を長押しするとホーム画面が編集モードになります。従来どおりアイコン長押しでも可能です。

アプリアイコンをドラッグ&ドロップ（触ったまま動かす）で移動します。

アイコン同士を重ねるとフォルダになります。フォルダ名は編集可能です。

「−」をタップするとアプリやウィジェットが削除されます。
アプリは、削除しようとするとライブラリに移動するか完全に削除するか聞かれます。

​ウィジェットの編集

編集状態で画面上部（機種によって右上か左上）の「+」をタップするとウィジェット一覧が現れます。

まずウィジェットを選び、横スワイプでサイズを選択。ウィジェットを追加をタップします。

スペースが不足するとアプリアイコンや他のウィジェットが削除されることがあります。消えたアプリはAppライブラリからドラッグ&ドロップでホーム画面に戻せます。ウィジェットは追加し直すしかありません。
私は1ページ目の8個中4個のフォルダが分解されてえらい目に会いました。空きスペースには余裕を持った方がいいです。

ウィジェットのサイズは3種類あります。アイコン4×4個分の大ウィジェット、2×4個分の中ウィジェット、2×2個分の小ウィジェットです。ウィジェットは2行2個単位でしか置けません。開始位置は上から1行目、3行目、5行目、左から1個目と3個目に限られます。
4インチiPhone（初代SE）は6行目がないので1行目か3行目のどちらかが開始位置です。5行目にウィジェットがかかることはありません。​

新規ウィジェットはページの一番上に追加されます。ウィジェットを下の方に置くにはドラッグ&ドロップで入れ替えます。

他のウィジェットが無い場合、最低5個のアプリがなければウィジェットを下に移動させることはできません。アプリを削除するなどして数が不足するとウィジェットが自動的に上に来ます。​小ウィジェットを右側に置くにはその前に最低1個のアプリが必要です。

​ホーム画面のウィジェットはホーム画面0ページ目に当たる「今日の表示」に移動させることもできます。ホーム画面に置けるタイプなら、ここからドラッグ&ドロップでホーム画面に移動させることもできます。

「今日の表示」だけに追加できる従来からのウィジェットを編集するには、一番下の編集からカスタマイズと進みます。

新しいウィジェットは「今日の表示」では一番下に追加されまが、旧ウィジェットグループよりは上に来ます。旧ウィジェットグループを上に持ってくることはできません。

特殊なウィジェット ① スマートスタック

複数のアプリを一つのウインドウにまとめたウィジェットです。Appleが用意したものをウィジェット一覧から選択する他、好きなウィジェットで自作することができます。ローテーション中の他、スリープ解除、ページ移動、アプリ終了時にはスマートスタックの右横に、縦に並ぶ点が表示されます。

スマートスタックを作るには、同じサイズのウィジェットをドラッグ&ドロップで重ねます。アプリでフォルダを作る要領です。

スマートスタックを長押しして「スタックを編集」を選択すると、スマートローテーションをオフにしたり一部を削除したりできます。しかし分離はできません。

特殊なウィジェット ② Siriからの提案

Siriからの提案（使用状況から自動でお勧めされます）のうち、アプリ2×4相当の中サイズのウィジェットは2種類あり、一つはアプリアイコンに擬装します。アイコン擬装タイプはホーム画面に置くとウインドウが消えて壁紙が見えるようになっています。本物のアイコンとはラベルの色が違います。半透明です。

6.5インチ、6.1インチ、4インチのiPhoneでは本物より少し間隔が狭く、左に詰まっています。

特殊なウィジェット ③ トールウィジェット

Apple Newsを6つ表示するウィジェット。「今日の表示」専用。ホーム画面には置けません（アイコン6行分相当のスペースを持っています）。

ページの非表示

ホーム画面を編集モードにしてページコントロール（ドックの上のドット）をタップします。

ページの一覧が表示されるので、非表示にしたいページのチェックを外し、完了またはチェック以外のどこかをタップして編集を終えます（完了の文字が表示されない機種もあります）。

非表示にしたページを表示したいときは編集画面の一覧でチェックを付け直します。

​Appライブラリについて

ホーム画面の最後のページの次のページがAppライブラリになっています。ライブラリは編集できません。非表示にしたアプリはここから起動できます。

ライブラリを下に引き下げるとリスト表示が出てきます。

ライブラリのアプリはドラッグ&ドロップでホーム画面に移動させることができます。
もしも既にホーム画面にあるアプリをライブラリからホーム画面に移動した場合は、その操作が優先されて元の場所からは消えます。行方不明のアプリを移動させたいときなどに便利です。

​ページコントロールについて

ドットをタップしても1ページずつ移動できますが、ドットをスワイプするとアニメーション無しで高速移動します。ドットの左右をタップして移動する範囲はページ数によって異なり、表示されているドットからある程度離れると反応しません。

ホーム画面が1ページしかないときは非表示になります。

Basic Editing Operations

​Tap and hold a blank area on the Home screen other than the app icon, Dock, or Page Control (the dots on the Dock) to enter the edit mode on the Home screen. You can also tap and hold the icon as before.

Drag and drop an application icon to move it.

​When two icons are piled up, they become a folder. You can edit the folder name.

​Tap "-" to delete the app or widget.
When you try to delete the apps, you will be asked if you want to move them to the library or delete them completely.

​Editing Widgets

While editing, tap the "+" at the top of the screen (top right or top left, depending on the model) to bring up a list of widgets.

Select a widget, swipe across to select its size, then tap Add Widget.

App icons and the other widgets may be removed if there is not enough space. Deleted apps can be backed to the Home Screen from the App Library with drag and drop. The widget has to be added again.
I had a bad experience with 4 of the 8 folders on the first page breaking down. You should have plenty of free space to spare.

There are three widget sizes available. A large widget for 4 x 4 icons, a middle widget for 2 x 4 icons, and a small widget for 2 x 2 icons. Widgets can only be placed in the equivalent of two apps and two lines. The starting position is limited to the first line from the top, the third line, the fifth line, the first and third from the left.
On a 4 inch iPhone (original SE) that doesn't have line 6, either line 1 or line 3 is the start point.

​New widgets are added to the top of the page. To put a widget at the bottom, drag and drop it to the bottom of the page.

​​If you don't have any other widgets, you must have a minimum of 5 apps to move the widget down. If you delete an app or otherwise run out of them, the widget will automatically come to the top. To put a small widget on the right side, you must have at least one app in front of it.

Home screen widgets can also be moved to the Today View which is on page 0 of the Home screen. You can also drag and drop the widget to the Home Screen from here if you want to place it on the Home Screen.

To edit the traditional widgets that can be added only to Today View, go to Edit at the bottom ＞ Customize.

The new widget is added to the bottom of the Today View, but it comes above the old widget group. You cannot bring the old widget group to the top.

Special Widget ① Smart Stack

​These are widgets that combine multiple apps in a single window; you can choose from a list of widgets provided by Apple, or you can make your own with any widget you like. A vertical dot will appear on the right side of the smart stack, vertically aligned, when rotating, waking up from sleep, moving pages, and exiting the app.

To make a smart stack, drag and drop widgets of the same size on top of each other. It's like making a folder with apps.

Tap and hold the smart stack and select "Edit Stack" to turn off smart rotation or delete part of it. But it cannot be separated.

Special Widget ② Siri Suggestions

Among the Siri Suggestions (Automatically recommended based on usage.), there are two types of medium-sized widgets, equivalent to app 2×4, one of which mimics app icons. The icon mimics type is placed on the Home Screen so that the window disappears and the wallpaper is visible. The label color is different from the real icon. It has a translucent color.

On 6.5 inch, 6.1 inch, and 4 inch iPhones, the spacing is a little narrower than the real ones, and they are stuck on the left.

Special Widget ③ Tall Widget

The widget that shows 6 Apple News items. For Today View only. Cannot be placed on the Home Screen (has space for 6 lines of icons).

Hide the Pages

Turn the Home Screen into edit mode and tap Page Control (the dot above the Dock).

A list of pages will appear and you can uncheck the pages you want to hide. Then tap Done or anywhere else but the checkbox to finish editing (some models do not display the word "Done").

If you want to show the hidden page, you can check the box again in the edit screen.

About the App Library

The next to the last page on the Home screen is the App Library. You cannot edit the library. You can launch hidden apps here.

Pull down the library and the listed view will come up.

The apps in the library can be moved to the Home Screen by drag and drop.
If you move an app that is already on the Home Screen from the Library to the Home Screen, that operation will take precedence. It will disappear from its original location. This is useful when you want to move a missing app, for example.

About the Page Control

You can move one page at a time by tapping the dots, but swiping the dots will move fast without animation. The area to be moved by tapping the left or right side of a dot depends on the number of pages, and will not respond to areas far from the displayed dot.

If you only have one page on the Home Screen, the Page Controls are hidden.
