​今お使いの壁紙はまだ変えないでください！
もしも「ピンチで切り取り」をやるとこうなります。

上の方が極端に白くまたは黒くぼかされてしまいます。
酷い時は白文字なのに背景も白くされてステータスが見えません。

余白を補う自動調整機能のようですが壁紙を動かすと強制的に働きます。
そもそもiPhoneで壁紙を設定しようとすると、ほとんどの場合最初は拡大されて表示され、どこがどう拡大されるかは壁紙によって違います。それを調整したら白黒ぼかし。機種と壁紙によっては設定した瞬間にピンチインがキャンセルされることもあります。
​世界中の壁紙が安心して使えなくなっています。内蔵壁紙と真っ白と真っ黒を除いて。
しかし抜け道はあります！

​魔法のジェスチャー

白黒ぼかしは2ステップで防げます。

1/2：スクショを撮る

まず写真アプリで表示したいように表示させます。右上の「クロップ」が消えるのを待ってスクリーンショットを撮ります。

これで画面ぴったりの壁紙が出来ました。

2/2：魔法のジェスチャーでぼかしを防ぐ

さて画面ぴったりの壁紙を画面ぴったりに設定するために、「ピンチで切り取り」を使ってピンチインします。はい白黒ぼかしが出ます。

大丈夫です。ここで魔法のジェスチャー。そのまま指を離さず上にスワイプ！

あら不思議。白黒ぼかしが消えました。

このジェスチャーは壁紙と画面のタテヨコ比が同じぐらいじゃないと効果がありません。つまり、元々画面ぴったりなら1/2は省略してジェスチャーだけで大丈夫です。

追記10/5・10/24修正
iOS 17.1のiPhone 14/13 Pro/13/12 Pro/12/11/XRでは画面サイズジャストの壁紙では上記の方法でこれを防げません。本来のアスペクトよりも縦長の壁紙でなら可能です。なおiOS 17.1では写真アプリで編集した場合も有効です。

細かい点やや玄人向け

※なぜか写真アプリの編集で切り取った画像ではぼかしは消えない。
※まれにピンチ無しでぴったりに表示されたり、ただのピンチインでぼかしが消えることもあるがやってみないとわからない。どちらにしろピンチインとスワイプアップをやって悪いことはない。
※一度出た白黒ぼかしはタテヨコ比が異なる壁紙では基本的に消えないが、拡大し直すと消える。
※白黒ぼかしが出る条件は厳密には画面の端（上に限らず四方のいずれか）が一瞬でも表示された時。しかしそれを避けてピンチで切り取るのはほとんど不可能。

その他iOS 17のロック画面・ホーム画面の変更点

• ロック画面ではコントロールセンターインジケータが修正されました。Wi-Fiか5G/4Gかで表示がずれることはありません。通知カードは若干左右に広くなっています。
• ホーム画面では小ウィジェットだけが左右それぞれ外側に少し離れました。

※細かい点はまだ6.7インチモデルでしか見ていません。

iOS 16.6の変更点

すみません私が入院していて報告が遅れました。
iOS16.6でフルスクリーンiPhoneのホーム画面の検索ボタンの位置が下がっています。

​No Way!

Don't change your current wallpaper yet!
If you do Pinch to Crop, this is what happens.

The top of the background will be blurred to a messy white or black.
In the worst case, the background is also whitened even though the text is white and the status is not visible.

It appears to be an auto-adjustment feature that compensates for margins, but is forced to work when the wallpaper is moved.
When you try to set the wallpaper on the iPhone, it will most likely be enlarged at first, and which areas will be enlarged depends on the wallpaper. If you adjust it, the image will be blurred into black and white. And depending on the model and wallpaper, the pinch-in may be deactivated the moment it is set.​
​All the wallpapers in the world are no longer safe to use. Except for the built-in wallpaper and pure white and pure black.
But there is a loophole!

​​Magic Gesture

White/black blur can be prevented in two steps.

1/2: Take A Screenshot

First display the wallpaper as you want it to appear in Photos. Wait for the Crop in the upper right corner to disappear and take a screenshot.

You get a wallpaper that fits your screen perfectly.

2/2: Magic Gesture to Prevent Blurring

Now to set the screen-fit wallpaper to screen-fit, pinch in using Pinch to Crop. Yes, white/black blur will appear.

It's okay. Here's the magic gesture. Swipe up without releasing your finger!

Oh my goodness. The white/black blur has disappeared.

This gesture will not work unless the aspect of the wallpaper and the screen are about the same. In other words, if the wallpaper size is originally snug, you can omit the 1/2 and just use the gesture.

Added on Octo. 5, Revised on Oct. 24
On iPhone 14/13 Pro/13/12 Pro/12/11/XR with iOS 17.1, the above method does not prevent this with a wallpaper that is just the right size for the screen. It is possible if the wallpaper is longer than the original aspect. In iOS 17.1, images edited in Photos are also valid.

Fine Points Somewhat for Experts

*For some reason, the white/black blur does not disappear with an image cropped in Photos editing.
*On rare occasions, the blur will show up perfectly without pinching, or the blur will disappear with just a pinch in, but you won't know until you try it. Either way, there is nothing wrong with doing a pinch-in & swipe-up.
*Once the white/black blur appears, it basically does not disappear on wallpapers with different aspect ratio, but it disappears when the image is enlarged again.
*The condition for white/black blur to appear is strictly when the edge (Any of the four directions, not just the top) of the screen appears even for a moment. However, it is almost impossible to avoid it and crop the image by pinching.

​​One More Thing

I don't think there are that many wallpapers that are this blurred and cool...

Other changes to the Lock Screen and Home Screen in iOS 17

• In Lock Screen, the Control Center indicator has been fixed; it no longer shifts depending on whether the display is Wi-Fi or 5G/4G. The notification cards are slightly wider to the left and right.
• On the Home Screen, only the small widgets have moved slightly outward on each side.

*For now, the details are still only seen on the 6.7" model.

In iOS 16.6

Sorry I was in the hospital and this report is late.
The search button on the Home Screen of a full screen iPhone is positioned downwards in iOS 16.6.

In iOS 16.2, two new options were added to Always On Display (previously known by a different name in Settings).

Go to Settings ＞ Display & Brightness ＞ Always On Display — if it’s enabled, additional options will appear.

You can combine the Show Wallpaper and Show Notifications toggles to choose from:
① Clock, wallpaper, and notifications (all on)
② Clock and wallpaper only (notifications off)
③ Clock and notifications only (wallpaper off)
④ Clock only (Always On Display on, but both toggles off)
⑤ Nothing shown (Always On Display off)

How to use for iOS 16.0 | How to use for iOS 15 or earlier

① iOS 16.1では、壁紙を変更するときにロック画面とホーム画面を選択できるようになりました。
ロック画面を長押ししてカスタマイズをタップすると選択画面が表示されます。

壁紙を選択すると下の画面に戻ります。画面をタップまたは下からスワイプして終了です。

ただし少し複雑なルールがあります。
ホーム画面を変更した場合

• 常にホーム画面の壁紙だけが変更されます。ロック画面が変更されることはありません。

ロック画面を変更した場合

• ホーム画面の壁紙を「ペアリング（ロック画面と同じ）」に設定していたときは、ホーム画面も同時に変更されます。
• ホーム画面の壁紙とは別々に設定していたときは、ホーム画面は変更されません。

ロック画面の壁紙の「変更」では、iOS 16.0のように「ホーム画面をカスタマイズ」が表示されることはありません。

② 設定アプリの壁紙からも、ロック画面と同じように壁紙の追加、変更ができるようになりました。

壁紙の追加方法
壁紙を追加するときはロック画面→ホーム画面の順で設定していきます。

画面を上からスワイプダウンしてロック画面を呼び出します（フルスクリーンモデルの右上はコントロールセンター呼び出しです）。

ロック画面を長押ししてカスタマイズ画面を呼び出し、右側の➕をタップします。
追加した壁紙はこの画面をスワイプして選択することで簡単に切り替えられます。
保存した壁紙を使用する場合は左上の「写真」をタップ。

ロック画面をカスタマイズ
壁紙を選択すると下の画面に移ります。必要に応じてピンチ操作（指二本で画面をつまんだり広げたりする動作）で壁紙を拡大縮小して「追加」をタップしてください（変更の際は同じボタンで「完了」です）。
ロック画面では日付や時刻、ウィジェット、壁紙のカラー（「自然光」「白黒」「デュオトーン」「カラーウォッシュ」）、右下の「…」から被写界深度エフェクト、をカスタマイズできます。写真を選び直す場合は左下に写真アイコンがあります。

「壁紙を両方に設定」をタップすると下の方に表示されている状態になります。ホーム画面はロック画面と同じ壁紙でぼかされています。
ホーム画面を違う壁紙にするか、ぼかしをオフにする場合は「ホーム画面をカスタマイズ」をタップ。

ホーム画面をカスタマイズ
ペアリング（ロック画面と同じ）、色だけの背景にするカラーとグラデーション、写真（写真アプリに保存した画像）、ぼかしのオンオフを選択して設定後、完了をタップします。
写真を選択した場合はロック画面と同じUIで壁紙の調整を完了した後、この画面に戻ります。

画面をタップまたは下からスワイプして終了です。

壁紙のペアを削除する
画面を削除するにはカスタマイズ画面を上にスワイプしてゴミ箱アイコンをタップします。ロック画面とホーム画面両方の壁紙が解除されます。

注意点
以下はiOS 16.0と全く同じです。

従来どおり写真アプリからも壁紙の設定はできますが、何の断りもなく新しい画面が追加されるので気をつけてください。色々試していると知らないうちにロック画面とホーム画面のペアが大量に作られていますよ。

壁紙を普通に変更する場合は通知センターまたは設定アプリから設定するようにしてください。

壁紙の表示はめちゃくちゃに拡大されて変な位置になったり、ならなかったりします（当サイトのiOS 16に対応した壁紙は調整しやすくしてあるのでご安心ください）。調整が必要なこともしばしばです。

​一部の機種（5.8インチと5.4インチ画面の、スクリーンショットの解像度の横幅が奇数ピクセルのiPhone）では、壁紙を設定後に再び画面のカスタマイズを開始すると僅かに表示がずれます。これが問題となる場合は一度他の壁紙で設定を完了させてから、再度壁紙を選び直して一回でカスタマイズを終了させる必要があります。同じ壁紙のままで調整することはできないようになっています。

iPhoneの壁紙設定のロック画面の時刻周りの位置は昔から適当でしたが、ガイドラインが付いても相変わらずズレています。

ロック画面を押すと動くライブ壁紙はiOS 16では動きません。長押しすると壁紙の設定画面になるからです。
それから視差効果も廃止されています。これに伴い壁紙の余白という概念もなくなりました。

(1) In iOS 16.1, you can now choose between Lock Screen and Home Screen when changing the wallpaper.
Touch and hold the Lock Screen and tap Customize to bring up the selection.

When you select a wallpaper, you will return to the screen below and tap Done to finish.

However, there are a few complicated rules.
If Home Screen Is Changed

• Only the Home Screen wallpaper is always changed; the Lock Screen is never changed.

If Lock Screen Is Changed

• If the Home Screen wallpaper was set to "Pair (same as Lock Screen)", the Home Screen will be changed at the same time.
• If the Home Screen wallpaper was set separately from the Home Screen, the Home Screen will not be changed.

The "Change" Lock Screen wallpaper does not show Customize Home Screen as it does in iOS 16.0.

(2) Wallpapers can now be added and changed from Wallpaper in Settings, just like Lock Screen.

How to Add the Wallpaper
When adding a wallpaper, the order of setting is Lock Screen > Home Screen.

Swipe down from the top of the screen to call up the Lock Screen (the upper right corner of the full-screen model is the Control Center call).

Touch and hold the Lock Screen to call up the Customize screen, then tap ➕ on the right side.
You can easily switch between the wallpapers you have added by swiping and selecting them on this screen. To use a saved wallpaper, tap Photos in the upper left corner.

Customize Lock Screen
When you select a wallpaper, you will be taken to the screen below. If necessary, pinch (pinch and spread the screen with two fingers) to zoom in or out the wallpaper and tap Add (The same button is Done for changes.).
Lock Screen allows you to customize the date, time, widgets, wallpaper color (NATURAL, BLACK & WHITE, DUOTONE, COLOR WASH), Depth Effect, which is available from the bottom right "...". To select a photo again, there is the Photos icon in the lower left corner.

If you tap Set as Wallpaper Pair, it will stay visible at the bottom. The Home Screen is blurred with the same wallpaper as the Lock Screen.
Tap Customize Home Screen if you want to make Home Screen a different wallpaper or turn off Blur.

Customize Home Screen
Select Pair (same as Lock Screen), Color and Gradient for a color-only background, Photos (an image saved in the Photos app), and Blur on/off, then tap Done.
If you choose Photos you will return to this screen after completing the wallpaper adjustments in the same UI as Lock Screen.

Tap the screen or swipe from the bottom to finish.

Delete a Pair of Wallpapers
To remove the wallpaper, swipe up on the Customize screen and tap the trash can icon; both Lock Screen and Home Screen wallpapers will be removed.

Notes
The following is exactly the same as iOS 16.0.

How to use for iOS 15 or earlier

基本はロック画面→ホーム画面（ぼかし）

壁紙を追加するとき（とiOS 16にアップデートして初めて壁紙を変更するとき）は、必ずロック画面の設定から始まります。初期状態ではホーム画面にも同じ壁紙が自動的に設定され、背景はぼかされます。

完了させると画面ごとにその設定が次回変更時に引き継がれます。
例えばホーム画面を異なる壁紙にして、ぼかしをオフにしていた場合、次にその画面のホーム画面をロック画面と同じ壁紙にしてぼかしたければ「壁紙を両方に設定」するのではなく、「ホーム画面をカスタマイズ」に進んで「オリジナル（ロック画面の壁紙）」に切り替え、ぼかしをオンにする必要があります。

変更する

画面を上からスワイプダウンして通知センターを呼び出します（フルスクリーンモデルの右上はコントロールセンター呼び出しです）。

画面を長押しして編集画面に入り、カスタマイズをタップ。

ホーム画面だけを変更する場合は右上の完了をタップ。

Basically, Lock Screen → Home Screen (Blur)

When adding a wallpaper (and when changing wallpapers for the first time after updating to iOS 16), always start with the Lock Screen setting. By default, the same wallpaper is automatically set for the Home Screen and the background is blurred.

Once completed, the settings for each screen will be carried over to the next change.
For example, if you had set the Home Screen to a different wallpaper and turned off Blur. If you then want to blur the Home Screen of that screen with the same wallpaper as the Lock Screen, you must go to Customize Home Screen without tapping Set as Wallpaper Pair, switch to Original (the Lock Screen's wallpaper), and turn on Blur.

To Change

Swipe down from the top of the screen to call Notification Center (Top right of full screen model is Control Center call.).

Tap and hold the screen to enter the edit screen, then tap Customize.​

To change only the Home Screen, tap Done in the upper right corner.
On the Lock Screen, you can customize the date, time, widgets, wallpaper color (NATURAL, BLACK & WHITE, DUOTONE, or COLOR WASH), and Depth Effect from "..." in the lower right corner.

To change the Lock Screen, tap the Photos icon in the lower left corner and select a wallpaper.

Pinch (Pinching and spreading the screen with two fingers.) to scale the wallpaper as needed and tap Done.

Tap Set as Wallpaper Pair to make it visible (it will take over the previous setting).

Tap Customize Home Screen to change Home Screen or turn Blur on/off.

After selecting and setting Original (same as Lock Screen), Color and Gradient for a color-only background, Photos (an image saved in the Photos app), Blur on or off, tap Done.

Tap the screen to exit.

To Add

To add a new one, start from the right side. Tap ➕ to begin.
Added wallpapers can be easily switched by swiping after tap and hold on Lock Screen/Notification Center.
